Cortaca Jug

The 51st Cortaca Jug Football Game was played on Saturday, Nov. 14, on at Ithaca College's Butterfield Stadium. Ithaca took home the Jug, beating Cortland 23-20.

The SUNY Cortland Alumni Association offered alumni several opportunities to cheer on the Red Dragons.  In addition to the annual Cortaca Jug Alumni ticket lottery, which allowed hundreds of alumni to attend the game, events were offered at the Lynne Parks '68 SUNY Cortland Alumni Housethe Dark Horse Tavern and Penn Quarter Sports Tavern in Washington, D.C. Alumni unable to attend the events could catch all of the action through a live radio broadcast and webcast.

The Alumni Association looks forward to offering the same great events for the 52nd Cortaca Jug Game.  Check back in Fall 2010 for more information.

What is Cortaca Jug?
Billed as "the biggest little game in the nation" by Sports Illustrated many years ago, the annual Cortland-Ithaca football contest perennially has been of one of the top draws in NCAA Division III football for the past two decades.  While the rivalry dates back to 1930, the Cortaca Jug has been awarded to the winner annually since 1959.
